Course Overview

The overall learning objective is for the participant to be able to operate the turbine steam valves during startup, on-line operation, valve tests, and shutdown.  Furthermore, personnel should better understand the meaning and source of any related alarms.  Discussions will include operations of the servo valve, the relay dump (trip) valve, fast acting solenoids, and test solenoids.  Personnel should understand the purpose, operation, and test sequence of each of the main steam valves: MSV, CV, RSV, IV, ASV, and ACV.  Discussion will include those alarms that are associated with the performance of any of the valve tests.
