Course Overview

This Learning-Doc describes both the traditional and upgraded type systems.  Each of the turbine supervisory instruments are discussed; the key-phasor (or phase reference generator), eccentricity detector, speed, valve position, shell expansion, differential expansion, rotor expansion, thrust position, vibration, and steam/metal thermocouples.  Also described is the purpose of the instrument, the interpretation of data, likely causes of operational problems and how to use the instrumentation for troubleshooting and decision making.  All related alarms and alarm responses are included in this discussion.
